Given the fact that Saldana had to spend three hours a day in the makeup trailer for Guardians, it should come as no surprise that Saldana likes to go without when she can. Unlike other celebrities, though, Saldana knows how to make do without cosmetics. You see, the actress grew up in the Dominican Republic, where she needed to find more natural beauty routines. “In the islands, rum isn’t only for drinking. You can actually put rum on your hair…because with the sun, the rum bleaches your hair. That was sort of a natural way of getting highlights,” Saldana recalled.
