Hana worked fast, wrapping the rope tightly around the tree’s base and double-checking the knot with trembling fingers. It had to hold. She leaned over the well’s edge and called down, “Peter, the rope’s secure. Start handing up the creatures. I’ve got them.”
“Got it! Here comes the first one!” Peter called back. Moments later, a small shape emerged from the shadows.
