Surprisingly enough, it didn’t bolt at the sight of humans or glance around like it was lost or searching for its mother. Instead, the fawn stepped forward in the calmest and sure-footed manner ever and started walking straight down the aisle. Guests exchanged looks, unsure whether to laugh or stay still.
There was something oddly focused about it, like it had somewhere to be. No sniffing the grass, no sudden flinches. Just those small hooves tapping gently along the path Emma had walked minutes earlier. A few whispered jokes passed through the crowd, light and nervous. But beneath the smiles, something about the animal’s presence felt too precise.
