A Silent Deer Interrupted Their Wedding and Changed Everything After

A Soft Sound

A soft rustle stirred near the edge of the clearing, just beyond the last row of chairs. It was the kind of sound people are trained to dismiss. It could have been wind through leaves or a squirrel darting through underbrush. Most didn’t notice it at all. But those seated closest paused as their attention slipped from the ceremony for a split second.

It was nothing alarming or worth stopping the vows for. Still, the rustling didn’t fade. Despite being subtle, it lingered for longer than usual. Later, those same guests would try to describe it. No one could agree on the exact moment the noise became a bother.
