If there’s someone from the talk show industry that must be paid homage, it’s television personality, writer, and producer Phil Donahue. The famous talk show host became a worldwide sensation when he created and hosted The Phil Donahue Show, which began airing back in 1967. His talk show became even bigger once the live audience was allowed to participate, making it the first of its kind to do so. It’s no wonder the legendary show lasted three decades!
Donahue has been said to be the “king of daytime talk.” Even the great Oprah Winfrey has admitted that there wouldn’t be an Oprah Show if it weren’t for the unforgettable Donahue. So, there’s no doubt he earned his spot in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.
