In an interview with “Rolling Stone,” Taylor admitted that “Mine” was inspired by an unnamed crush. She was looking back on her tendency to run from love instead of sticking things out. Then, her thoughts laid the groundwork for a single that became a top-ten hit and RIAA-certified triple platinum that sold over three million units. But if she did call Cory hers, we know it didn’t last.
