But did Travis win, or is Taylor just a mastermind? We have @BetttyCardigan to thank for sharing the theory on how Taylor has seemingly been writing about her relationship with Travis for years and how she somehow manifested this new era of romance.
One piece of evidence is “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” from her self-titled album in 2006, with the lyrics, “I’ll be 87 you’ll be 89.” That’s an allusion to old age, given the song’s context. Yet it’s interesting that Taylor has long been associated with 89 since the release of her fifth album, “1989,” and 87 just happens to be Travis’s jersey number.
