These Puppies Shouldn’t Be Alive, and A Vet Just Found Out Why
Something Didn’t Add Up
Twelve puppies were already a lot, but what really caught everyone’s eye was the mix of colors. Labs usually come in black, yellow, or chocolate. Black is the most dominant and the original color, while chocolate used to be rare. Yellow’s been around a while, too. But Lola’s litter had every shade—black, chocolate, yellow, even a silver pup—and that silver didn’t fit the usual chart.
A litter this colorful was more than unusual. It was confusing. Dr. Greene glanced at Lola, then back at the puppies. The colors didn’t match up with what he expected. Something strange was going on, and it wasn’t just genetics.
