As Mueller continued to explore and photograph the underwater airplane, she began having more and more questions about her find. Most of all, she wanted to know how the planes arrived in their watery grave. From her first impressions, the aircraft looked like they came from World War II or the Korean War. It seemed impossible that they all could have been shot down so close to one another.
Then, Mueller noticed something even stranger: there were absolutely no human remains in the airplanes. Not only that, but, despite some rust, the planes were in almost perfect condition: no bullet holes, burns, or signs of explosions. Something was not right about this underwater graveyard…
