Mueller’s eerie photos show just how much marine life reclaimed the airplanes on the Pacific Ocean floor. The diver even managed to capture an image of a large school of fish making themselves at home inside a rusty airport cockpit! “The ocean is amazing and resilient. It is a life force that we will probably never completely understand,” Mueller explained. “Seeing how it can take huge chunks of metal and grow life on that metal is pretty amazing.”
It’s simply incredible to see how each plane has become a part of the ecosystem of the Marshall Islands. As Mueller snapped more and more images of the airplanes, she soon realized she wasn’t looking at a graveyard at all…
